Great news for Pakistanis residing in UAE, as Pakistan Consulate General in Dubai has started an online appointment system for passports, ID cards and visas.

Pakistanis living in the Dubai and northern emirates can now visit the website, www.mofa.gov.pak/Dubai, and book their appointment to apply for passports and NICOP (National Identity Card for Overseas Pakistanis).

The move by the Pakistan Consulate will bring relief to the UAE based Pakistani community, reported Gulf News. The new facility will reduce the massive rush of applicants visiting the mission each day, meaning saving of precious time and goodbye to long queues.

“The new online appointment system will provide huge relief to the community in the UAE as they no longer have to stand in queues for hours to get their passports and ID cards renewed,” said Samar Javed, Acting Pakistani Consul General in Dubai.

The newly introduced online appointment system will provide a number of services i.e. renewal of machine readable passports, obtaining a new one or renewal of the NICOP, attestation of documents and others, reported the Gulf Today.

“On an average, daily 1,500 to 1,800 people visit the consulate for various consular services on a first come first served basis. ….Through the online appointment system people will be asked to book their desired time and come only 15 minutes ahead of their scheduled appointment. This will not only help community members save their time but also assist the consulate staff in facing less congestion and smooth the existing services,” informed Javed.

The Acting Consul General added that the Pakistan government is set to introduce online renewal of passports without the need to visit the consulate. A software system is being developed by the National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) to handle new online process, and the system is in its final stages and will launch soon, he added.
